TUM Project Weeks

Student Team Andreas Heddergott/ TUM

We are excited to offer a project as part of the TUM Project Weeks. In general, the Project Weeks at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) bring together students and lecturers to work in interdisciplinary teams on real-world challenges such as sustainability, artificial intelligence, health, and entrepreneurship. The initiative encourages collaboration across different fields of study, fostering creativity, innovation, and practical problem-solving skills. The program also supports teachers in developing and leading these projects, promoting a culture of teamwork and experiential learning across the university.

Phish & Chips – Cyber Protection for Non-Profit Organisations | Winter semester 2025/26

In this practice-oriented course, students acquire basic knowledge of cyber security and learn to identify and analyse cyber risks through interdisciplinary teamwork and to develop training formats tailored to specific target groups. The focus is on strengthening non-profit organisations by teaching them protective mechanisms against cyber attacks.

At the beginning of the module, participants acquire a basic understanding of key concepts in cybersecurity. Students apply their theoretical knowledge directly by working in teams on real-world scenarios, learning about both defence and attack strategies. Students take on the role of experts and develop target group-specific information material for non-specialist organisations in an iterative process. The aim is to deepen their own understanding and promote their ability to communicate complex content in a comprehensible and confident manner.

There is a special focus on the project week, during which students gain an understanding of the specific needs and requirements of non-profit organisations through direct contact with them. Part of the project week will involve putting oneself in the shoes of organisations and, through contact with them, understanding their needs and requirements and then tailoring the material to meet the needs of the selected target group. The form of the material to be developed (e.g. posters, presentations, guidelines, flyers, videos, simulations) is agreed upon within the team in order to be able to respond flexibly to different backgrounds and needs.

In this way, participants not only acquire in-depth specialist knowledge, but also practical skills through interactive scenarios, thereby strengthening the cyber resilience of local organisations.

The course is therefore a valuable learning resource for anyone who wants to test and shape cyber security in a practical way, in addition to theoretical content.

Dates and Registration

The Project Week will take place from January 12 to January 16. An online Kick-off Meeting will be held on December 16. Further information and registration details can be found here

Messe der Ideen

We were present with a booth at the Messe der Ideen, where more than 40 projects from the past two years were presented. The event took place on April 30, 2025 from 12:00 to 16:00 in the matriculation hall on the main campus.
